With all the talk of the Mandela Effect and so Many claiming it is merely a matter of a psyop based on faulty memory, I want to express why I think there is more to it than just a psyop.
First, I question why it is that, with all the elements brought up with this effect, it is ALWAYS just two camps (rarely is there an individual that says a third element was "the way it was") to each issue. Why is it that We, who remember things differently (and often are vehement about this) ALL remember, or "misremember" according to Those who say the effect is bunk, the exact same thing?
My awareness of this effect came long before Mandela died, giving the effect its name. In about 2007, I was on a forum site and someOne posted a thread about being freaked out to discover that New Zealand was southeast of Australia. He said that He had remembered it being north and slightly west of center. Well. I remembered it being north and slightly west of the center of Australia, too. I even have a number of memories looking up New Zealand on maps and globes, as I was quite drawn to the Kiwi bird. I wanted to go there and see them personally, so I would look up the island (an army ankle boot shaped island) and wish very hard I was there.
I drew a picture of what I recalled and posted it in the thread. The poster said that was exactly what He remembered. As the thread progressed, many People, shocked to discover this change, agreed that what I had drawn matched Their memory too. At final count, about a third of the responders remembered what I remembered. Now, if this was a matter of bad memory or just being bad in geography, I would expect People to be placing New Zealand literally all over the map. But no. Two camps exactly. Those who said New Zealand was where it is now (and the same shape it is now, with a number of islands), and Those of Us who remembered what I drew.
Though there are many of the things I recall that seem to have changed, with Me remembering the very same thing Others, who say things changed, remember, there are two other things that have significance because they were well reinforced.
The first thing I remember has to do with the Berenstein Bears. The name I was given at birth had an "ei" in it and, being of German origin, the "ei" was pronounced "eye." People who didn't know that would pronounce the "ei" as "ee" and I would correct Them. Because of this, I became very sensitive to the way "ei" was pronounced in words that had the "ei." I would note the pronunciation when I encountered a word, and every time afterwards, I would do a little "Yup, that's pronounced (whichever way)." So with the Berenstein Bears, when I first saw the word and listened to the pronunciation, I made note that the "ei" was pronounced "ee." Every time thereafter, I'd do My little reinforcement.
Now, I figure that had it been "Berenstain," I would not have had it on My radar, and would not have heard "Berensteen" to make My reinforcement with. So this is changed for Me.
The second thing is Fruit Loops. When I was about five (My memories start at one, the first time I could go up to a cat and pet it, having just learned to walk), I was learning how to spell words. I was at the breakfast table with My mother across from Me. In front of Me was the box I had poured cereal from, and I was already reading well enough to be reading cereal boxes while I ate. I looked at the word "fruit," sounding it out, and realized that it was spelled weirdly. I asked My mom, "Why is the "oo" sound in "fruit" spelled "ui?"'
My mom said, "Lots of words in English are spelled weirdly, but that's the way "fruit" is spelled and You had better learn to spell it that way."
From that day forward, every time I saw a weirdly spelled word, I would remember that little lesson. Surely, if it had always been "Froot Loops," with the cereal pieces for the "o's" in both words, I would never have asked My mom about that word. I would not have had that memory. I would not have thought of the lesson when I encountered weirdly spelled words. Maybe it would have been a different word, but it surely would not have been of the word on the cereal box.
So. I conclude that there IS something more than just bad memory and People out there putting that to use in a psyop. And I also ponder... Why NOW? Why just in the last decade did suddenly People start saying things had changed? I would think, if it was just bad memory and People taking advantage of it, We would have People all along saying things had changed. If THAT many People naturally "misremember," it would be a common thing in Our social zeitgeist (pronounced "z-eye-tg-eye-st; LOL!).
