The Organic Robotic Growing (ORG) Challenge I am not qualified to create this alone. What I offer is an envisionment that I offer to Those who have the skills I lack – like programming and resource procurement – with the expectation that this challenge will be met. Today We farm by large machines that grate through the soil, planting row upon row, then spraying the fields with insecticides and herbicides… Our wheat, though not GMO, is “finished” with Roundup in a spraying of the ripe grain field. It coats and kills the wheat and the weeds that prompted the spraying, sending adulterated wheat to be processed. Truly, Our farming is not to sustain Us but slowly and expensively kill Us. So rather than this approach, I see a team, like “scrubbing bubbles,” of small, maybe basketball sized, robots that coax the soil, plant, weed, and remove insects from the plants. Harvesting might also be handled, or another team of a bit larger, more specialized ’bots might be an option. Maybe separate teams for some of the functions – a smaller ’bot to work the insect problem, with aerial capabilities… In this design, keep in mind that broadcast power is available, or onboard free aether energy. And also that the code must be open source. No spraying, designed to work with nature, which is the Ethical approach. Imagine if all food We ate was nutrient-dense, organic (in its true meaning, not some “legal” mumbo-jumbo), healthy, fresh, bountiful, and free for the asking… To see how We can eliminate money from between Us and the vast bounty of Our planet, please read: The Abundance Paradigm Foundational Writingstapyoureit.boards.net/thread/2/abundance-paradigm-foundational-writingsThank You to All who choose to meet the challenge!

No spraying, designed to work with nature, which is the Ethical approach. That would be more difficult, as the natural "enemies" of the plants come in many shapes and sizes, a robot able to recognise them all and act accordingly would be hard to make. Why not a really natural way of doing things and using the natural enemies of the plants' natural enemies? For each natural thing there's usually something else that eats it.

Oh, surely ladybugs and such are a good choice, but failing the needed helpers, We might want to TRY to create Our own.

what i have ran into in farming is that plants have natural defences that protect them. but if they dont have the proper nutrients to create the proper enzymes then they cant activate the genes for protection.
in the old days, timber guys would say to tree farm owners, you got some beetle infection in your trees.you better harvest now rather than lose your whole crop. i believe these same timber guys were dumping oil around some of the trees and then they would slowly die, allowing beetles to take over.
as my gardening techniques improve.i see less issues with infestations. but i try to make sure my plants have many available enzymes. i do this through composting and also adding molasses and coconut water.this is like blood transfusions to a plant and cuts down on its work in creating these chemicals.

I imagine a synthesis of sound ancient practices thoughtful robotics can be achieved. Maybe robots that help good bugs find & eat the bad ones. Some making sure the soil is optimal... This challenge can be taken in many directions.

absolutely.solar powered robots could turn desert into jungle with time.just as the dustbowl recovered from excessive farming.some ground could be reclaimed by bots that otherwise may have taken thousands of years. the new big tractors for farming are basically bots now.the drivers are there to just supervise the bots. i think holland may already be using some for flower production and also in their wholesale warehouses to move loads to auction and then on to buyer loading dock.

Electrogravitic powered robots. LOL! Why limit their power? But yes, with robots - and Dean Kamen's water purification device to clean the water We use - We could create such a beautiful place here on this planet, without it coming off the sweat of Humans. In fact, for Those who love to design, build and program robots, it will be fun and fulfilling.

Hi Amy, Just reading through this, the issue of resource procurement and proper farming had occurred to me, when i started drawing up the grand plan. Ethical, logical, nature freindly farming, like we have been doing for 10,000 years or more. Probably a lot more, but then we have forgotten more than we have learned it seems. But on the robot level, fairly easily accomplished, we already have 'camera & algorithm' robot arms that can play dominoes or build a wall, for example...not A.I. or even close to it, just a bit of math & some logic chips...recent studies also show that certain combos of chips can 'learn' and in doing so use only 20% or less of the transistor 'gates' allotted by the programmers. They used so few parts to reach a decision, it was mind blowing.. When i saw the heading 'organic robots' i thught you meant just that...a geneticaly modified plant or insect that kills the bad guys & generally looks after the plant. Prepping robots for caring for plant life? Ever seen this film? Please watch it........ "Silent Running, 1972" My YT search shows it's basically not available (i wonder why?) if anyone finds the link, let me know..if not, i will find my copy on VHS, convert it to MP4 and upload it.. Storyline; Earth is in the middle of a major war situation, and the button has just been pushed. All the orbiting platforms that had the last plants from Earth are ordered to abandon & set the platforms (domes) to self destruct. One man disagrees, & believes that the beauty of Earth plant life should be preserved, even above man himself...he continues on alone with his gardening robots..... I had to shed a tear watching that film (it was 1972 mind!) and i would shed another one, if frggin YT would let me see a free version, WHY is a film from 1972 now so hard to find? Here's the trailer anyway Too much truth in it, i daresay.. ETA; found this one with a music score, at least you get to see the whole fim..... Will catch up later, carry on.

Oh yes, Luke. I have seen it a number of times. Sci-Fi fanatic I was in My youth! LOLOL! And yes. We do not need AI - just robots that fill in where We don't have enough People who WANT to farm (or any other necessary work We need done and have no One to willingly and without coersion do the work).
The "Organic" refers to the farming, in tune with nature, free of the poisons the psychopaths are spraying the "conventional" foods with. The "Robotic" refers to having machines do the work. LOL!
