portabella mushroom box was in bathroom, barely had any mycelium growth.moved it outdoors for cooler temps and some humidity, then it warmed up. it was out there about 5 days.so then i moved it into bedroom with cold ac.not seeing any growth there now after 2 days. not having much hope in the box.
the morel stuff is barely growing anything in the sealed mason jars.but in the vented and air filtered mushroom lid jar im seeing growth and maybe some strands of mycelium in the grains. the other two liquid and vented jars i have continual growth floating on the top of the molasses water. i think they are making some reliable innoculant and i may have some success with the speciality lids i bought.so far i see potential.
on the dowel shittakes.its drought.nothing happening on that front.

i took the casing off the box mushrooms,it had weird mold stuff growing, not white webbing except deep down inside.the wood chips were soaked and mycelium was gone from most of block.i baked casing to sterilize it and im letting the block regrow.
where i messed up was over watering and temps not cool enough.i had emailed seller and wendy pointed this out.for these portobella mushrooms to grow, they need 68°f.she said 70°f was acceptable but not 75 to 80.mmkay,i learn something new everyday! as luck would have it,a cold front came through today and dropped the temp into the 60s with a mild sprinkle of rain.and as i went down to check on strawberrys, there was a giant cluster of wild mushrooms, lol,a sign! they sprouted overnight and were 4 inches tall.i dont know the type so im not eating them.but im not giving up hope on the portabella box.68° folks, thats what they like.not 75°!

i took the portabella box away from a stump covered with hundreds of mushrooms and moved it to a fresher stump.i took the whole rainsoaked mass out of bag and plopped it on top.its been drying a few days now and mycelium is growing back.im gonna just leave it be there as weather and temps are right outdoors.
i took the last jar of morel grain spawn and dumped it in woodchip pile, armadillo came in and tilled it all for me,wood ashes, grain and liquid cultures.mixed with sawdust and oak wood chips from splitting wood.then he went and dug up some of my strawberry plants!
i bought a lions mane kit.north spore is company, its description said 70°s for temp and its grown an inch out of box since i started it,it says to be very light on the water spraying.almost dummy proof for me.clostest to a mushroom ive grown so far.
i chose it because of temps,i dont want to be constantly monitoring its temp and lions mane is closer to in house temps.68°f is nice some times but nobody wants to be that cold all the time.our house runs about 72-75most of the time.
i found some of the shitake oak plugs i had laid on an old log,the drought dried them out but what was really neat was the way they felt like cork now.that mycelium really ate into that oak dowl.i stuck them deeper in cracks in the log.fire ants or something had gone crazy on those areas.i suspect they ate the mycelium.theres like ant mound dirt and wood dust wherever i put the pegs on that log.

i got video of lions mane, just a few seconds, ill get it uploaded.we harvested the north spore lions mane yesterday morning and angie ate most of it.i didnt care for taste but i think it may be ok in spaghetti.it does have a crab meat texture but not much flavor imho.im not a big mushroom fan but im into trying and seeing.angie thought it was delicious. at least i got something to grow!
i plan on continuing its growth and see how many flushes i can get while indoors.then move its leftovers outside for a stump or such.
so north spore gets a shoutout from me for a good product. it was very simple to grow and i barely watered it,way less than instructions called for.it didnt cause a mess or a stink.i had no issues with nats or flies.it just sat in its own cardboard box,on top my dehydrator,in my bathroom next to sink.really simple instructions.

Not the worst result, indeed! But I look forward to what You get with the techniques in that vid! agreed, i got the bag taped up with clear packing tape and sealed.turned the cube a quarter turn and set back in box.i plan to do it like mycovations said.i got a bunch of busted tubs and lids from when i worked at pilgrims.they arent clear but they should do.ill just line one with sheet plastic and put in some filtered water and see.i plan to start that project on december 1. once she does a similar log video,i may try that with my shitakke.she seems real smart.

got the lions mane to fruit again, grew almost as big as last time.i started a third time on jan2. we ate it with spaghetti.it was ok.
its been too cold for the outdoor stuff.i took the innoculant from morel and dumped it with a pile of rye grass seed.i know the seed will sprout but the pile of seed is so big,i expect alot to die and maybe the morel will take it over.

while i was gone on 7 months vacation,my daughter tried her best to wreck my already broken life.that ended with my lions mane disappearing probably into a burn pile that was created in my wood splitting pile where i innoculated some of my morel spores.she didnt tell me nothing about my other mushrooms and we are in a drought. i hope to see growth from all the outside innoculants this fall when we get rain.i wish i still had the lions mane.i would have innoculated some trees with it.i ask my wife if i still had my syringe or morel and she says she thought she saw it in back of fridge. now that i know how to create innoculant and probably will get mushrooms from all the outdoor stuff, ill make more innoculant when they sprout.the only one i have doubt in is the morel as its the hardest to grow, especially in east texas.i had a 50 pound bag of rye seed i innoculated with morel and spread it out in a 5 ft circle in back yard to try and accelerate morel growth.we will see.
