pups were barking and im trying to train them not to bark at my cats,go outside to see what they are barking at and almost step on a copperhead. its been cool most of this spring and i suspect thats why i just saw my first one.first one in two years. ne texas for reference.i was barefoot as usual but for some reason the snake hauled ass instead of biting me.
probably because he knew i bite back!
chomp chomp!
(°_y_°)SSSSsssssss....!

i was sittin down at my creek when i noticed a baby copperhead,9 inches long, layin in the water at the bank. only copperhead ive seen since i started this thread.ive seen a few garter snakes and green snakes.ive gone almost all year barefoot in my yard.its been nice,i dont know if it was because i cut a big tree down and it spooked him out in the open or he was living down there at creek all year. i think the 3 years of floods killed back alot of poisonous snakes as i havent seen any cottonmouths this year either.i use to have some real big ones out here but i killed them.had that one copperhead a few years ago like 3 ft long and as big around as my arm.biggest copperhead ive ever seen.so thats my count so far for year,2.not bad for deep woods on a swamp.

I love garter snakes! I also love king snakes - We had one when I was wee. Used to get mice at the zoo to feed the snake. Haha!

my swamps drying up.i got a small pool of muddy minnows.a small garter snake was eating them and a water moccasin was eating him.so i saved the garter snake and then let the water moccasin go. he seemed mad. looks like im finally getting my pets back: ) when them water moccasins get roudy, they wrap themselves around my arm. they so funny.
i saw a king snake behind house two days ago.young one about three ft long.
