this is my new bike,i use to race bmx and travel nationwide racing as a teen.my bmx bikes were all stolen in the past.i wanted something to stay in shape and decided i would get my dream bike and have something to goof around on and stay in shape.
redline makes the best cranks for aftermarket.i tossed the aluminum ones that came on bike and got the top set, flight cranks and nylon pedals, nylon to protect my shins, most racers use metal and also have shin scars.i also got a 19mm to euro bottom bracket as flight cranks dont match the bottom bracket on the alloy cranks.
next was the seat, that seat is clearish like a foggy diamond and just as painful as sitting on a diamond.its sold as strictly a butt protector for racing, otherwise its a foreign torture device.
so i got a new seat post and padded seat.
the seat post was a new origin 8,26.8mm longest they had.
last were the brakes, most bmx bikes only come with back brakes, yet front brakes are 2/3 of stopping power.tektro are the back brakes so i wanted matching tektro front brake.nobody at first search had tektro front brakes nationwide,
so i bought a set of origin 8 matching brake handles then recently found a bmx 985 tektro front brake.
i also ordered some ame grips from australia,i doubt they ever make it here.first it was excuse, buried in warehouse then it was, backordered for four weeks.i told company to glue them to sea turtle, their reply,we use eagles!
the origin 8 parts look really solid and high quality.
oh and on first day, front tire jumped off bead and got cut on sidewall,so i bought a set of tapyoureit blue colored tires.same color as this screen.
redline use to sell chrome plated bikes but as bmx industry has died, most quality bikes are painted now.this is the very first redline bike ive seen with no red stickers or red paint lines anywhere on bike.the only red line on this redline bike is flight crank stickers.the frame and fork are a dark metallic grey and most of accessories are black.theres a few baby blue paint labels on it.in the past stickers were used as labels, this new bike uses actual paint for its labels,so paint job is beautiful.
my wife actually likes my bike, she runs off with it and rides it occasionally now that i got new seat.ive road it to country store a few times.it rides like a cadillac with pedals.
